Mission Accoplished!

I’ve gone on the Journey to Mexico Mission Trip two times and this third time has been by far the most amazing.  As we enter the work site on Thursday, the first thing you see are the children’s glowing faces.  Then we start working on the house and there had to bee at least 25 locals helping us out and we definitely wouldn’t of finished this project if they weren’t giving a hand.  One of the greatest things Journey has done in Mexico is donate all of the stuff to the families.  All of them are all wearing American clothes and it is very awesome.  It feels incredible to change so many peoples lives in such a giant way.  Also, I honestly think that the connection we have with these kids outweighs the language barrier by far.  Glad to help and looking forward to the next years in Mexico!

These past three days have been incredible to say the least. This year, we had many local people working on the house with us. It was amazing to watch everyone work together and make so much progress on the house in such little time despite the fact that we speak two different languages. It was also cool to see the kids have a blast in the bounce house. Despite the fact that they have very little, they are still as happy as can be. My favorite part was the family’s reaction when they were handed the keys to their house. The look on their faces makes the work that was put in worth it. All in all, it has been awesome to help change people’s lives for the better.

We finally finished the house!  It was great to see them all smiling. I know how to make concrete and had the chance to saw wood.  My favorite part of this trip was that I was able to help people in need and got the change to get to know people in my youth group.

It has been an awesome trip. I wish I could have stayed longer and played with the kids more. I really liked being with all of them. It would just be nice if I knew how to speak Spanish. I am looking forward to going on another mission trip hopefully it will be a lot of fun. Building the roof yesterday was a lot of fun. Today we just put the windows up and two doors. Afterward, we had a fiesta, it was great.

This was my first mission trip to Mexico. I have to say it was great. The kids were awesome and fun to play with. To have the oppertunity to build a house for a family was great. i look forward to helping more families on future mission trips. I thank god for being with us.

Today I met my new best friend Chewy. He is sinco(five ). I had a full on coversation with him about his puppys. We had so much fun yesterday painting the girls nails and look foward to doing their hair tommorow.:)I tried to nail, but the boys and children got irritated with me.Yesterday at the orphanage I went in the bounce house with a few of the kids and got trampled. This year I made more of an effort to talk to the kids and adults and learned alot out of that. I am having a very inspirational trip. Everyone is so thankful for everytthing. Thanks again for the prayers and encouragment.:)

Hey everyone! Thank you for your prayers! We arrive last night safe and sound…and hungry! We had dinner right on the beach, it was great. God is doing great things over here through our awesome students and leaders. Our students are doing a great job connecting with the local people here. I’m looking forward to these next couple of days and how God is going to impact our students lives. Pray that they come back ready to change their community, family, and school! Thanks for your support!

Today we went to the Orphanage and I met this little boy Eddie who I fell in love with. This four year old boy teased me about my ripped jeans right when we got there. So we started talking and played around. He showed me his room, a big room full of bunkbeds and introduced me to all his friends, Bruno and Roberto. Then we sat down and he and my mom talked, and he asked her “Le gusta bailar” wich means Does your daughter like to dance? I fell in love when he asked that. He said he had Disco de Funkie and he went to go look for them. A while later when it was time to go, I found him in his room crying because he couldnt find the music for us to dance. When we said our goodbyes I broke down. He was hiding in his bed, my mom talked to him and he came out to give us a hug. I will never forget Eddie.

Today we arrived at the building site. Everyone was so excited. As soon as we got there, we started mixing cement. The locals just kept coming to help. Karen recognized the family from the house that Journey built last year. She asked me to go and help her talk to Cati the oldest daughter. They were so happy to see each other. They just hugged and I wanted so much to convey to each one how they felt about each other. I knew I was supposed to be here to help these two grow in their relationship. Just 4 days ago, I didn’t even have my passport! How I (and many others) prayed it would get here on time! God prepared this work in advance for everyone here and I realized how lucky I was to help with the communication. Throughout the day, I was able to help with various conversations.

Thanks be to God!~Heather Leal

So far today has been amazing:) We woke up and went to the sight where we are buliding the house and were excited to find out that we are only a block away from where we built last year! Everyone was happy to see Carmina and her kids again. The bouncie was a huge hit, as soon as we got it out the kids came running from all over. It always amazes me to see how happy everyone is with the little that they have. Something we did this year that we have never done before is visit an orphanage. It was great to hangout with all the kids, but really sad to leave. We met the cutest little kids that wanted me and elayna to dance with them, but couldnt find the “Disco de Funky” I already miss them and cant wait to go back next year!

P.S. HAPPY B-Day Chloe!

Hey fans and family of the Mexico Trip…. I just got off the phone with One Mission and they said that the team arrived safely and they are working hard! It appears that the internet is down at the moment, but when we hear things we will pass it onto you through this site.

Keep praying!
